Pilates Fusion Classes
Pilates Fusion is designed to strengthen the entire musculature of the body, improve flexibility, balance, postural alignment and joint mobility. There is a strong emphasis on core activation of the deep abdominals to assist with lumbar/pelvis stability. Pilates exercise techniques are fused with functional movements recruiting the body’s joints and muscles in a flowing, continuous sequence. Modalities of Yoga and Tai Chi are also merged with Pilates Matwork progressions to enable a feeling of relaxation and focus on breathing technique.
Resistance bands, discs, foam rollers and Pilates rings are provided for participants to promote a strong, supple body and serene state of mind.
This is an open level class. The exercises are structured in a way that the beginner level is shown first and then progressed to harder levels for more experienced participants. Modifications can be made for participants with chronic conditions/injuries although please note that anyone requiring rehabilitation exercises should seek physiotherapy treatments first.
This class is not suitable for anyone with significant mobility problems as participants are frequently required to stand up, kneel or lie on the floor. Mats are available at the venue but please feel free to bring your own mat and towel for hygiene reasons.
Please wear leggings/tracksuit pants with a t-shirt or long-sleeved top that is not too baggy as this makes it difficult for Nicky to see body alignment.
Participants are requested to fill out a pre-exercise form prior to attending the class.
